Trevor Sheehan
WINEMAKER
Trevor Sheehan, the visionary behind Octopoda, possesses a rich background in both the art and business of winemaking. Hailing from Texas, Sheehan developed a passion for wine during his college years, particularly drawn to the nuances of Burgundy. This passion led him to spend nearly a decade immersed in the world of wine, collecting and trading some of the finest vintages globally, while apprenticing under masters of winemaking in Bordeaux and Burgundy.
Sheehan's journey as a winemaker began with crafting eight barrels of Chardonnay from the Beckstoffer Vineyard and Cabernet Sauvignon from Howell Mountain, setting a precedent for his dedication to excellence. Drawing inspiration from renowned winemakers like Nils Venge and Henri Jayer, Trevor has carefully defined his winemaking style over the years, continually pushing the boundaries of innovation and quality in pursuit of vinicultural perfection.
In 2010, after years of honing his craft and deepening his understanding of wine, Sheehan made the pivotal decision to create his own value-based brands that would highlight the unique characteristics of California's diverse wine regions. He began his entrepreneurial journey by founding Balius, repurposing 400 cases of Oakville Cabernet that hadn't found a market. This venture laid the groundwork for his subsequent endeavor, the Precision Wine Company, of which the Octopoda line of wines is a key member of his diverse portfolio of wines, rooted in the heart of Napa Valley.
True to its name, Octopoda embodies Sheehan's unwavering commitment to meticulous attention to detail and uncompromising quality. Inspired by the graceful and powerful Octopus, his wines are crafted to express the endlessly complex and delicious flavors of California wine country, coalesced into wines made by the mysterious and unwavering forces of nature.
